Making the call

Is The BS-25 Right For You?

Both sides of it. If the right-hand column sounds like your situation, say so and we will point you elsewhere.

Choose the BS-25 if

  • You want more bass without stepping into professional-weight territory
  • The room can take a bigger sound without going boomy
  • More than one person in the house plays seriously

Look at something else if

  • Your ceiling or wall space is genuinely tight
  • There is no service lift and the staircase has awkward turns
Sound and size

What The BS-25 Sounds Like

Fuller in the bass than a starter piano without turning into a big instrument. That balance is the whole reason this size exists.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 7 cm shorter. Middling for weight in a range that spans 160 kg to 270 kg.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. It is a preference, not a ranking. Come and sit at both.

Room and access

Will it get in?

  • Space: about 1.6 m of wall
  • Floor: roughly 1.0 m²
  • Case width 153 cm, depth 60 cm
  • Access: Lift preferred

At 220 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn.

What You Are Actually Buying

What you are buying is the rebuild, not the badge. Two BS-25s can be thousands of ringgit apart depending on what was replaced and how the last owner kept it.

Humidity decides how a piano ages here. These were built for a climate with a winter, and in Malaysia the soundboard takes up moisture and gives it back, week after week. That movement pulls a piano out of tune, not playing it.

Where The BS-25 Sits In The Range

A shallow-cased run from the same period as the BL line. The reduced depth is the point when a hallway is tight.

Questions

Kawai BS-25: What People Ask

How big is the Kawai BS-25?

125 cm tall, 153 cm wide, 60 cm deep, and about 220 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.

Will a BS-25 fit my place?

You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.0 m². At 220 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn. Give us the measurements and the access and we will be straight about whether it works.

Is a used BS-25 a safe buy?

What you are buying is the rebuild, not the badge. Two BS-25s can be thousands of ringgit apart depending on what was replaced and how the last owner kept it. Five years of parts and labour cover comes with it, from the same people who rebuilt it.

Can I rent a BS-25 instead?

Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a BS-25 specifically. Ask what is free now. The rent turns into credit the moment you decide to buy it.

Do you have a BS-25 in stock?

Ask, because it changes week to week. No stock today does not mean no stock next month. We watch for specific models.

How often does a BS-25 need tuning in Malaysia?

Twice a year. Humidity decides how a piano ages here. These were built for a climate with a winter, and in Malaysia the soundboard takes up moisture and gives it back, week after week. That movement pulls a piano out of tune, not playing it. Two tunings after delivery are included when you buy from us.
