How Rent To Own A Piano Actually Works

There is no application, no scoring and no paperwork trail. It is a rental that turns into a purchase if you want it to.

  1. 1Ask us first. Rental stock is not standing on the shop floor and it moves. Message us with the room, the floor it is going to and who is playing, and we will tell you what is available right now.
  2. 2We deliver it. Our crew brings it in, positions it and tunes it once it has settled. An upholstered bench comes with it. You pay a fixed amount each month from there.
  3. 3Take your time. There is no deadline and no pressure to decide by a certain month. Plenty of families rent through a full year of lessons before they say anything either way.
  4. 4Keep it or return it. Keep it and everything you have paid comes off the price. Return it and you owe nothing more.

You never pay the rental twice. What you have paid, plus the balance, equals the piano. That is the entire arrangement, and it is why families who are not yet sure whether the lessons will stick start here rather than at a showroom. If you already know you only need an instrument for a fixed stretch, a term of exams or a single evening in a hall, that is ordinary piano rental and we do that too. Renting from us is credit-bearing by default, and the column on the right describes renting from somebody for whom it is not.

Our piano shop is at Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya, so most of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor is inside an hour of a van. We do travel further for the right job, and delivery on a piano bought from us is free anywhere in Peninsular Malaysia. Staircase carries are quoted separately, because the cost comes from the steps and the turns rather than the distance.

Rental stock is not the shop floor

The pianos we rent out are a separate and much smaller pool than the ones standing in the shop, and what is in it changes month to month. That is why step one is always to ask rather than to pick a model off a list. Tell us the room, the floor and who is playing.

Rent To Own: Common Questions

Does the rent I have already paid come off the purchase price?

Yes. That is the whole point of the arrangement. Every ringgit of rental you have paid is credit against the price of the piano, so you never pay the rental twice. What you have already paid plus the balance equals the piano.

Is there a minimum rental period?

There is no deadline. You keep renting for as long as the household needs to make up its mind, and nothing forces a decision at three months or six months.

What happens if I return the piano instead of keeping it?

You owe nothing more. The rental you paid covered the months you had the instrument, we collect it, and that is the end of it.

Can I pick the exact model I want to rent?

Ask us first. Rental stock is a separate and much smaller pool than the pianos standing on the shop floor, and it changes, so we will not promise a specific model before we have checked. Tell us the room and who is playing and we will tell you what is available.

Is the piano delivered and set up, or do I collect it?

We deliver it. Our own crew brings it in, positions it where you want it and tunes it once it has settled, and an upholstered bench comes with it.

Can I rent to own a grand piano?

The rent-to-own pool is uprights. Grands come through in ones and twos and are prepared to order, so if you are after a grand, message us and we will tell you what is possible rather than guess.
