Making the call

Is The M-132D Right For You?

Both sides of it. If the right-hand column sounds like your situation, say so and we will point you elsewhere.

Choose the M-132D if

  • The player is preparing for practical exams or teaches at home
  • The bass on a smaller piano has started to sound thin to you
  • You have the floor space and the access to take a large upright

Look at something else if

  • There is no service lift and the piano has to go upstairs
  • The room is small, where a big instrument mostly produces reverberation
  • Nobody in the house plays beyond early grades yet
Sound and size

What The M-132D Sounds Like

The low register has real weight to it. Played hard it stays musical instead of turning percussive.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 40 kg heavier. Near the top of the weight range, which runs from 160 kg up to 270 kg.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. It is a preference, not a ranking. Come and sit at both.

Room and access

Will it get in?

  • Space: about 1.6 m of wall
  • Floor: roughly 1.1 m²
  • Case width 154 cm, depth 66 cm
  • Access: Lift needed

260 kg. Heavy enough that the move needs planning rather than optimism. The case is 66 cm deep, which is more than most. Measure the doorway rather than assuming it will turn.

What You Are Actually Buying

A used piano is only as good as the work done to it. Strings and dampers replaced where needed, hammers reshaped or renewed, the action regulated until repetition is even, pedal linkages set, case refinished. Then it is tuned and left to settle.

Humidity decides how a piano ages here. These were built for a climate with a winter, and in Malaysia the soundboard takes up moisture and gives it back, week after week. That movement pulls a piano out of tune, not playing it.

Questions

Kawai M-132D: What People Ask

How big is the Kawai M-132D?

132 cm tall, 154 cm wide, 66 cm deep, and about 260 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.

Will a M-132D fit my place?

You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.1 m². 260 kg. Heavy enough that the move needs planning rather than optimism. Send the room size, the floor and whether there is a service lift, and we will tell you before you travel.

Is a used M-132D a safe buy?

A used piano is only as good as the work done to it. Strings and dampers replaced where needed, hammers reshaped or renewed, the action regulated until repetition is even, pedal linkages set, case refinished. Then it is tuned and left to settle. Five years of parts and labour cover comes with it, from the same people who rebuilt it.

Can I rent a M-132D instead?

Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a M-132D specifically. Ask what is free now. The rent turns into credit the moment you decide to buy it.

Do you have a M-132D in stock?

Ask, because it changes week to week. When we are out, we say so rather than steer you into whatever is on the floor.

How often does a M-132D need tuning in Malaysia?

Twice a year. Humidity decides how a piano ages here. These were built for a climate with a winter, and in Malaysia the soundboard takes up moisture and gives it back, week after week. That movement pulls a piano out of tune, not playing it. Two tunings after delivery are included when you buy from us.
