Making the call

Is The OP-25 Right For You?

Worth reading the right-hand column properly. Most of the pianos that come back are access problems, not taste problems.

Choose the OP-25 if

  • You want more bass without stepping into professional-weight territory
  • More than one person in the house plays seriously
  • You have a landed house or a ground-floor unit with space to spare

Look at something else if

  • Your ceiling or wall space is genuinely tight
  • There is no service lift and the staircase has awkward turns
Sound and size

What The OP-25 Sounds Like

This is where the left hand starts getting proper support. Above middle C the difference is smaller than the height suggests.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 7 cm shorter. Middling for weight in a range that spans 160 kg to 270 kg.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. Neither is better. Play both, which you can do on one floor at the shop.

Room and access

Will it get in?

  • Space: about 1.6 m of wall
  • Floor: roughly 1.0 m²
  • Case width 153 cm, depth 61 cm
  • Access: Lift preferred

At 220 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn.

What You Are Actually Buying

We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the OP-25 you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included.

Keep it off an outside wall if you can, out of the sun, and away from the air conditioning. Those three things do more damage here than a child practising ever will.

Questions

Kawai OP-25: What People Ask

How big is the Kawai OP-25?

125 cm tall, 153 cm wide, 61 cm deep, and about 220 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.

Will a OP-25 fit my place?

You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.0 m². At 220 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn. Message us the room and the floor. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.

Is a used OP-25 a safe buy?

We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the OP-25 you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included. If something goes wrong in the first five years, it is our workshop that fixes it.

Can I rent a OP-25 instead?

Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a OP-25 specifically. Ask what is free now. Buy the one you have been renting and the rent already paid comes off the price.

Do you have a OP-25 in stock?

Ask, because it changes week to week. If nothing suits, we will tell you that too.

How often does a OP-25 need tuning in Malaysia?

Twice a year. Keep it off an outside wall if you can, out of the sun, and away from the air conditioning. Those three things do more damage here than a child practising ever will. Two free tunings in the first fortnight come with the piano.
