A 124 cm case. Enough string length to sound like a piano, small enough that the room still works. It is the shortest KS-F we list.
Room, floor, lift. Three answers and we can tell you if this is the right piano before you come in.
Kawai
In the price, not added at the end.
Read both. The second list is the one that saves people money.
It sounds like a piano rather than a small piano, which is not true of everything in this height class. Against the Kawai KS-2A it is 1 cm shorter and 20 kg lighter.
Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 8 cm shorter and 20 kg lighter. Middling for weight in a range that spans 160 kg to 270 kg.
Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. It is a preference, not a ranking. Come and sit at both.
At 200 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn.
Kawai built several at 124 cm tall: the No. KS1, BL-11, BL-12, KU-1 and 2 others. They differ in weight and case rather than in size. If the KS-1F is not on the floor when you ask, the table below is where we would send you next.
| Model | Height | Weight | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kawai KS-1F This model | 124 cm | 200 kg | 152 cm |
| Kawai No. KS1 | 124 cm | 200 kg | 150 cm |
| Kawai BL-11 | 124 cm | 200 kg | 152 cm |
| Kawai BL-12 | 124 cm | 200 kg | 152 cm |
We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the KS-1F you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included.
The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do.
If you are not ready to commit, rent one by the month. Decide to keep it and the rent you have paid comes off the purchase price.
A later domestic line with the F suffix. Heights step in tight increments, so there is usually one that matches an awkward wall.
124 cm tall, 152 cm wide, 61 cm deep, and about 200 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.
You need about 1.5 m of wall and roughly 1.0 m². At 200 kg it is an ordinary move. Lift, fine. Stairs, tell us how many and which way they turn. Message us the room and the floor. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.
We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the KS-1F you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included. There is a five-year warranty behind it, and we are the ones who service it.
Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a KS-1F specifically. Ask what is free now. Nothing paid in rent is wasted if you decide to keep the piano.
Ask, because it changes week to week. If we do not have one, we will say so and tell you what is close on size and weight.
Twice a year. The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do. We include the two tunings it needs after moving.
Ask what is actually in the shop today. We will send photos of the specific piano, tell you what was replaced in the rebuild, and be honest if another model fits you better.
