What The BL-31 Sounds Like

This is where the left hand starts getting proper support. Above middle C the difference is smaller than the height suggests. Against the Kawai BL-11 it is 1 cm taller and 0 kg lighter.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 7 cm shorter and 20 kg lighter. Middling for weight in a range that spans 160 kg to 270 kg.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. There is no right answer here. Both are on the floor, so try them back to back.
