An earlier 127 cm U2 at 228 kg. Same case and same scale as the better known U2H, and the decision between them is about the individual instrument rather than the letter.
Give us the floor and the lift situation and we will be straight with you about whether this one suits.
Yamaha
In the price, not added at the end.
Worth taking seriously if the specific piano has been rebuilt well.
Fuller than a U1 through the bottom two octaves, with the even Yamaha response above. It is the size at which an upright stops sounding like a starter piano.
The E generation sits early in the U2 run. Fewer reach Malaysia than the H, so when one turns up in good order it usually has had proper work done.
Yamaha is the brighter and quicker of the two, which is why exam candidates keep asking for one. Some players find the treble tiring over long sessions. Neither is better. Play both, which you can do on one floor at the shop.
228 kg, and the case is the same footprint as a U1. Only the weight changes. At 61 cm front to back it is one of the shallower cases in the range, which is worth knowing if the hallway it has to pass through is narrow.
Yamaha built several at 127 cm tall: the U2D, U2F, U2G, U2H and 2 others. They differ in weight and case rather than in size. If the U2E is not on the floor when you ask, the table below is where we would send you next.
| Model | Height | Weight | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha U2E This model | 127 cm | 228 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U2D | 127 cm | 228 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U2F | 127 cm | 228 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U2G | 127 cm | 228 kg | 150 cm |
On earlier U2s, check the dampers as well as the hammers. Uneven damping is common and fixable, but it should be reflected in the price.
Tune it twice a year. Not because it gets played hard, but because the soundboard moves with the weather and takes the tuning with it.
For families not yet sure the lessons will stick. Rent a restored piano monthly, and if you keep it, everything paid comes off the price.
127 cm, six centimetres taller than a U1, and the difference lands in the bass rather than the touch.
127 cm tall, 150 cm wide, 61 cm deep, and about 228 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.
You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.0 m². 228 kg, and the case is the same footprint as a U1. Only the weight changes. Message us the room and the floor. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.
On earlier U2s, check the dampers as well as the hammers. Uneven damping is common and fixable, but it should be reflected in the price. It carries a five-year warranty on parts and labour, honoured by the workshop that did the work.
Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a U2E specifically. Ask what is free now. Rent for six months, buy it, and those six months come off the price.
Ask, because it changes week to week. If nothing suits, we will tell you that too.
Twice a year. Tune it twice a year. Not because it gets played hard, but because the soundboard moves with the weather and takes the tuning with it. The first two tunings are on us, once it has settled in.
Stock changes weekly. Message us and we will tell you whether a U2E is on the floor, send photos and the serial number, and say if something else suits you better.
