At 132 cm this is a full-height upright, which is what teachers mean when they ask for a proper piano.
Photos of the actual piano on request. Tell us your room and floor and we will say if it fits.
Kawai
In the price, not added at the end.
Read both. The second list is the one that saves people money.
This is as close as an upright gets to a grand in the bass. It also needs a room that can take that much sound. Same case as the Kawai BL-71, 10 kg lighter.
Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 30 kg heavier. Near the top of the weight range, which runs from 160 kg up to 270 kg.
Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. Neither is better. Play both, which you can do on one floor at the shop.
At 250 kg we want to see the route before quoting a staircase carry.
Kawai built several at 132 cm tall: the No. K35, No. K48, No. K50, BL-71 and 19 others. They differ in weight and case rather than in size. If the BL-61 is not on the floor when you ask, the table below is where we would send you next.
| Model | Height | Weight | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kawai BL-61 This model | 132 cm | 250 kg | 152 cm |
| Kawai KU-3 | 132 cm | 250 kg | 152 cm |
| Kawai KU-3D | 132 cm | 250 kg | 152 cm |
| Kawai KS-5F | 132 cm | 250 kg | 152 cm |
We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the BL-61 you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included.
The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do.
Renting first is the low-risk way in. Nothing you pay is wasted, because it counts toward buying the piano later.
The line that succeeded the original K series and the most successful run in Kawai's history. BL numbers climb with height.
132 cm tall, 152 cm wide, 61 cm deep, and about 250 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.
You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.1 m². At 250 kg we want to see the route before quoting a staircase carry. Message us the room and the floor. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.
We do not guess about individual instruments. Ask what was replaced on the BL-61 you are looking at and we will tell you, serial number included. There is a five-year warranty behind it, and we are the ones who service it.
Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a BL-61 specifically. Ask what is free now. Nothing paid in rent is wasted if you decide to keep the piano.
Ask, because it changes week to week. When we are out, we say so rather than steer you into whatever is on the floor.
Twice a year. The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do. We include the two tunings it needs after moving.
One message and we will tell you what we have, what it costs, and whether the BL-61 is really the right size for your room.
