Making the call

Is The US-63H Right For You?

Read both. The second list is the one that saves people money.

Choose the US-63H if

  • The player is preparing for practical exams or teaches at home
  • You are setting up a studio or a teaching room
  • You have the floor space and the access to take a large upright

Look at something else if

  • There is no service lift and the piano has to go upstairs
  • The room is small, where a big instrument mostly produces reverberation
  • Nobody in the house plays beyond early grades yet
Sound and size

What The US-63H Sounds Like

This is as close as an upright gets to a grand in the bass. It also needs a room that can take that much sound.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 45 kg heavier. Near the top of the weight range, which runs from 160 kg up to 270 kg.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. Which you prefer is genuinely personal, and twenty minutes at the shop settles it faster than any description.

Room and access

Will it get in?

  • Space: about 1.6 m of wall
  • Floor: roughly 1.1 m²
  • Case width 154 cm, depth 66 cm
  • Access: Lift needed

At 265 kg this needs a lift. We will look at the route before agreeing to anything else. The case is 66 cm deep, which is more than most. Measure the doorway rather than assuming it will turn.

What You Are Actually Buying

Every Kawai we sell has been through a full restoration in Japan and a second rebuild in Selangor. The second one matters most, because by then the piano has been through a humidity change we can actually see the effects of.

The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do.

Questions

Kawai US-63H: What People Ask

How big is the Kawai US-63H?

132 cm tall, 154 cm wide, 66 cm deep, and about 265 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.

Will a US-63H fit my place?

You need about 1.6 m of wall and roughly 1.1 m². At 265 kg this needs a lift. We will look at the route before agreeing to anything else. Give us the measurements and the access and we will be straight about whether it works.

Is a used US-63H a safe buy?

Every Kawai we sell has been through a full restoration in Japan and a second rebuild in Selangor. The second one matters most, because by then the piano has been through a humidity change we can actually see the effects of. There is a five-year warranty behind it, and we are the ones who service it.

Can I rent a US-63H instead?

Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a US-63H specifically. Ask what is free now. Nothing paid in rent is wasted if you decide to keep the piano.

Do you have a US-63H in stock?

Ask, because it changes week to week. If nothing suits, we will tell you that too.

How often does a US-63H need tuning in Malaysia?

Twice a year. The piano heater that comes with it is not a gimmick. In a damp house, run on a timer, it is the cheapest maintenance you will do. We include the two tunings it needs after moving.

Sunwave Piano, since 1979
