Is The YUX Right For You?

The honest version. We would rather talk you out of the wrong piano than deliver it and hear about it later.

Choose the YUX if

The bass on a smaller piano has started to sound thin to you
You have the floor space and the access to take a large upright
There is a service lift, so the weight is not the problem

Look at something else if

There is no service lift and the piano has to go upstairs
The room is small, where a big instrument mostly produces reverberation
Nobody in the house plays beyond early grades yet

What The YUX Sounds Like

This is as close as an upright gets to a grand in the bass. It also needs a room that can take that much sound. Same case as the Yamaha YUS3, 7 kg lighter.

Set against the Yamaha U1H, the most commonly sold used Yamaha here, it is 10 cm taller and 23 kg heavier. Near the top of the weight range, which runs from 180 kg up to 254 kg.

Yamaha is the brighter and quicker of the two, which is why exam candidates keep asking for one. Some players find the treble tiring over long sessions. It is a preference, not a ranking. Come and sit at both.

How big is the Yamaha YUX?

Is a used YUX a safe buy?

Every Yamaha we sell has been through a full restoration in Japan and a second rebuild in Selangor. The second one matters most, because by then the piano has been through a humidity change we can actually see the effects of. It carries a five-year warranty on parts and labour, honoured by the workshop that did the work.

Can I rent a YUX instead?

Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a YUX specifically. Ask what is free now. Rent for six months, buy it, and those six months come off the price.

Do you have a YUX in stock?

Ask, because it changes week to week. When we are out, we say so rather than steer you into whatever is on the floor.

How often does a YUX need tuning in Malaysia?

Twice a year. Tune it twice a year. Not because it gets played hard, but because the soundboard moves with the weather and takes the tuning with it. The first two tunings are on us, once it has settled in.
