Is The K-2 Right For You?

The honest version. We would rather talk you out of the wrong piano than deliver it and hear about it later.

Choose the K-2 if

Sound and size

What The K-2 Sounds Like

The bottom octave is honest rather than impressive. Everything from the middle upward does what it should. Against the Kawai No. K8 it is 14 cm shorter and 0 kg lighter.

Set against the Kawai No. K35, the most commonly sold used Kawai here, it is 24 cm shorter and 20 kg lighter. Middling for weight in a range that spans 160 kg to 270 kg.

Pianos of this generation often left the factory with two pedals. A third gets fitted during the rebuild.

Kawai voicing runs warmer than Yamaha at the same size, particularly up top. People who practise for hours tend to prefer it. There is no right answer here. Both are on the floor, so try them back to back.
