A later 121 cm U1 at 217 kg. Same case as every other U1, and one of the last of the line before Yamaha moved to different naming.
Photos of the actual piano on request. Tell us your room and floor and we will say if it fits.
Yamaha
In the price, not added at the end.
A good pick if you would rather start from a younger instrument.
Clean and quick, with a slightly firmer feel than the earliest U1s. The treble is the strongest part of the instrument and the bass does what a 121 cm piano can do, which is enough for most domestic playing.
Later generation, so the examples that reach Malaysia are usually younger than the D or E instruments. That tends to show in the case rather than the sound.
Yamaha is the brighter and quicker of the two, which is why exam candidates keep asking for one. Some players find the treble tiring over long sessions. Neither is better. Play both, which you can do on one floor at the shop.
217 kg. Straightforward with a lift and predictable without one. At 61 cm front to back it is one of the shallower cases in the range, which is worth knowing if the hallway it has to pass through is narrow.
Yamaha built several at 121 cm tall: the U1A, U1D, U1E, U1F and 8 others. They differ in weight and case rather than in size. If the U1M is not on the floor when you ask, the table below is where we would send you next.
| Model | Height | Weight | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha U1M This model | 121 cm | 217 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U1H | 121 cm | 217 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U1A | 121 cm | 218 kg | 150 cm |
| Yamaha U1D | 121 cm | 218 kg | 150 cm |
Younger does not mean untouched. Ask how it was stored, because a piano that sat unplayed in a humid room ages faster than one that got used.
Keep it off an outside wall if you can, out of the sun, and away from the air conditioning. Those three things do more damage here than a child practising ever will.
Not sure yet? Rent monthly and decide later. What you have paid in rent comes straight off the price if you keep it.
Yamaha's 121 cm upright and the most widely owned serious piano in the country. The letter marks the generation, not the size.
121 cm tall, 150 cm wide, 61 cm deep, and about 217 kg. Height sets the tone, weight sets what delivery day looks like.
You need about 1.5 m of wall and roughly 1.0 m². 217 kg. Straightforward with a lift and predictable without one. Message us the room and the floor. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.
Younger does not mean untouched. Ask how it was stored, because a piano that sat unplayed in a humid room ages faster than one that got used. If something goes wrong in the first five years, it is our workshop that fixes it.
Rent-to-own runs on a separate pool that changes weekly, so we cannot promise a U1M specifically. Ask what is free now. Buy the one you have been renting and the rent already paid comes off the price.
Ask, because it changes week to week. No stock today does not mean no stock next month. We watch for specific models.
Twice a year. Keep it off an outside wall if you can, out of the sun, and away from the air conditioning. Those three things do more damage here than a child practising ever will. Two free tunings in the first fortnight come with the piano.
We would rather point you at the right piano than sell you this one. Tell us what you need and we will say what we have.
